CLV4 Danburite on Talc

Alto Chapare District, Chapare Province, Cochabamba Department, Bolivia

4.3x 3.9x 3.4 cm

$38

Two danburite crystals on a talc matrix.  The danburite gets its grayish hue from magnesioriebeckite inclusions, an attribute that is particular to specimens from this locality.  Matrix specimens are very rare, because they usually fall of their talc matrixes before reaching the market.... but these are stuck in pretty well.

It's also unusual to have multiple crystals on one specimen.

CLV50- Cholesterol (Crystalline)
Russian Coast

No.... you didn't read the description wrong, this is a rounded ball of crystalline cholesterol.  Unfortunately the label containing the exact beach where it was found has been lost, but this is the remnant of a cholesterol-based gall stone from a marine mammal.

This is not strictly a mineral, but I figured someone else out there would also find this crystalline organic interesting....
