A cluster of very sharp Alabandite crystals, from a find made around 2010. Up until this time, virtually no good examples of the species had been found for decades (Hungary had produced similar crystals much earlier, and Broken Hill had comparatively pathetic sprays.) Within the span of 3 years however, there were two major discoveries of the mineral-- this one at Uchuccacua, and a second at Merelani. The Merelani specimens occur almost exclusively as single crystals, while those from Uchucchacua are usually found together with others, on matrix.
By the standards of the Uchucchacua find, this piece is exceptionally lustrous and sharp.
