PL46 Epidote
Angelina III Mine, Pisco Prov., Ica Dept., Peru
5.2x 4.2x 3.6 cm
$135

An epidote specimen from a find made wihtin the last couple months.  I saw a number of these specimens in Peru, though all had large amounts of damage.  I selected three pieces that I thought were good representatives from the find, and which were largely damage free.

Past Peruvian epidotes have either been masses of very small crystals, or in the case of the best known specimens from Pampa Blanca, fan shaped clusters.  This is the first time that heftier prisms have been found.  This is the same mine that recently produced the clinozoisites (see above).
