A beautiful example of a fluorite on quartz, from a recent find at Pasto Bueno. These fluorite has a bluish purple color, with the color concentrated near the surfaces and edges. Interestingly, the quartz sketched on the back-- it's not a broken shard. It's very beautifully arranged-- I really like when one mineral is artistically perched on another, and this is a great example of such a piece.
This mining area became famous in the 1970's, when it produced spectacular rhodochrosite. In recent years, there have also been finds of hubnerite.
