A nice specimen of light smoky quartz on an orthoclase matrix that is sprinkled with numerous bright orange spessartine garnets.
These specimens come from the same locality that yielded the spessartine/ smoky quartz bonanza several years ago-- that year the rooms of the Chinese dealers were practically overflowing with the stuff. These days, decent pieces are a bit more difficult to find at affordable prices.
The locality actually consists of a large granite hill. At present, most of the workable part of that hill has been carved away to excavate for specimens.
