DDM16 Quartz with Manganocalcite
El Mochito Mine, Near San Pedro Sula, Santa Barbara Dept., Honduras
26.0x 18.0x 10.0 cm
$550

A very large cabinet specimen of quartz with light pink manganocalcite, from Honduras.  Central American minerals are not often seen for sale, though approximately 5 years ago there was a group brought to the market.  There are a couple broken crystals (to be expected given the size) and a sizable cleave to the manganocalcite that is somewhat more visible in eprson. One smaller point right in the center that is curiously amethystine. Considering the size and locality, this piece is at the curious intersection between decorator specimen and reference sample.
