Colorless Topaz and Blue Apatite

The following specimens are from two new finds, one made in the Gilgit district, the other in Baltistan.  The topaz crystals were unearthed over the summer of 2005, and I purchased the best specimens from the pocket within days of its having been opened.  The apatite is slightly older, but as far as I am aware, blue apatite from Pakistan has not been offered previously in any significant quantity-though pink and purple examples from Chumar Bakhoor and Afghanistan have been around for quite a while.

STOP2 Topaz

Shigar Valley, Baltistan, Pakistan

12.6 x 11.5x 5.6 cm.

$2500

In my opinion, this the best specimen from the find.   The larger crystal measures 6.2x 5.8x 4.7 cm, as is perched next to a second topaz crystal, and a terminated quartz crystal.  Both crystals are complete, and have no damage or repairs.  In fact, the crystals do not even have contacts on their undersides,  and the quartz is double terminated. The crack on the base is natural, and rehealed.

STOP1 Topaz

Shigar Valley, Baltistan, Pakistan

7.5 x 5.5x 3.2 cm.

$1650

A very gemmy, large topaz crystal, partially coated with albite.

If some of the albite were to be removed, a second, flat termination would be exposed at the crystal's base. There is a small chip on the front edge of crystal, though it is not easily visible when displayed.  This is one of the top specimens from the pocket.

STOP3 Topaz

14.4 x 10.5x 5.0 cm.

$445

A large cabinet specimen consisting of blady cleavlandite hosting a colorless, damage free topaz crystal.

STOP4 Topaz

Shigar Valley, Baltistan, Pakistan

22.5 x 15.0x 12.5 cm.

$1050

A HUGE cabinet specimen hosting three topaz crystals, to 4.5x 4.0 x 3.9 cm. The topaz crystals are nestled in. cleavlandite, which is in turn coating a large albite crystal. There is a fourth missing crystal that keeps the price down...so someoneget's a deal.

Even if you were to trim this into three separate specimens, their combined values would still be greater than the asking price.
