Uraninite var. Pitchblende
From:
Krunkelbach Valley Uranium deposit, Menzenschwand,
Black Forest, Baden-Württemberg, Germany
The specimens on this page are all from the uranium deposits at Menzenschwand. The deposit was worked until 1990, and the dumps have since been removed and the area landscaped. I do not have a Geiger counter, so unfortunately I cannot give exact CPM readings, but past customers have reported that these things are VERY hot.
Just from the look of them, it would seem more than believable--they are rich with black pitchblende, and uranium secondaries are clearly visible on almost all of them.
